Minister's Thought for the Week
“A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that thousands of people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. I came across the above story this week. Thought provoking isn’t it? It make us think as to our responses to the questions posed by the experiment. What is our response to something, perhaps unexpected, but truly awesome freely available in our midst? This week the Christian church enters the period of Lent in the lead up to Easter, the pivotal event, we believe, in the history of world. It all centres around the person of Jesus, who he was and what did he achieve. Like the violinist many people did not and do not grasp who he really is. In the coming weeks of Lent we will have a look at some of the first responses to Jesus Christ, the one who offers to us something more beautiful and precious than all top musicians in the world together could provide. Every blessing Peter |
